A long-awaited event on the country’s main stage—the Lviv National Opera at the Ukraine Palace!

This fall, the Solomiya Krushelnytska Lviv National Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre is embarking on a major tour to Kyiv to showcase contemporary Ukrainian ballet.

Alexander Rodin’s ballet “Solaris,” based on the cult novel by world-renowned science fiction writer Stanisław Lem, has captivated the world not only in its literary form but also in its cinematic adaptation.

The ballet “Solaris,” set to music by contemporary composer Alexander Rodin and with a libretto by Vasyl Vovkun, is more than just science fiction. It is a journey into the depths of human consciousness, where reality collides with illusions, and the mind encounters the unfathomable Cosmos. The planet Solaris, shrouded in a mysterious ocean, forces the characters to face their own fears and emotions, to seek the truth and the true meaning of existence. The production is a choreographic creation by ballet director Kateryna Kurman. The stunning, fantastical sets and costumes are the work of the talented and progressive set designer Svitlana Reinish. The palette of cosmic impressions is complemented by Alexander Mezentsev’s masterful lighting design.
