A long-awaited event on the country’s main stage—the Lviv National Opera at the Ukraine Palace!
This fall, the Solomiya Krushelnytska Lviv National Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre is embarking on a major tour to Kyiv to showcase contemporary Ukrainian ballet.
Victoria Polova’s ballet fairy tale “Mavka” is a tragic love story on the border between two worlds, a subtle psychological drama enveloped in the elemental beauty of nature. The production’s fantastic music, exquisite choreography, and visual magic will immerse you in a world where myth and reality intertwine.
An international team of artists worked on the production: choreographer Artem Shoshin (assistant—Tetyana Kuruglu), librettist and director Vasyl Vovkun, set designer Arvidas Buinauskas (Lithuania), and costume designer Natalia Mishchenko.
This new theatrical marvel, inspired by the fairy-tale drama “The Forest Song” by the legendary poet Lesya Ukrainka, is a wonderful idea for a family theater weekend, where the magic will captivate children and the depth of the plot will resonate with adults.
The Solomiya Krushelnytska Lviv National Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre strives to offer Kyiv residents its support and light, so that together we may find solace in true art. This is our way of embracing every audience member and offering moments of aesthetic pleasure, which are so important to experience today. We look forward to seeing you!
